Lord, Increase our Faith

Joseph Smith taught that Afaith is the first great governing principle which has power, dominion, and authority over all things... and without it there is no power [and] could be no creation nor existence.  (First Lecture on Faith)  Faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation for everything we do and teach as missionaries.

As we go about our daily work, however, we are confronted with challenges to our faith, to our abilities to do as the Lord asks, and to our  capacity to pull down the powers of heaven to bless our investigators and ourselves as we desire and need.  We pray with the apostles of old, ALord, increase our faith@ (Luke 17:5).

Joseph Smith also taught that sacrifice is the key that opens the door of faith.  As we sacrifice to do our duty in God=s kingdom, God can and will increase our faith.  Though faith is ultimately a gift of the spirit, we can merit this gift through desire, devotion, and patience.

Keep the faith!  President and Sister Ulrich

CMM Miracles and Memories

We received a media referral for DT back in March for the Lamb of God.  We tried to contact him for three weeks without success.  Passing by for the predetermined last time, we found him at home and delivered the video along with a first discussion.  DT proved to be an absolutely golden investigator and in six visits he received all six discussions. All of his doubts fled after a 'pray now' experience during the fourth discussion helped him feel the Spirit of the Lord and confirmed his decision.  He will be baptized in June.  Elders Wood, Meurisse

After church last Sunday and a great FHE lesson on faith (we do FHE at the church for our investigators and new members), we had our usual appointment with Diane the next morning.  At the end she just burst out crying and couldn't even speak.  She just wrote on a piece of paper - Je veux être baptisée.  We were all in tears.  She has worked through a lot of fears, but just loves the church and testifies how it has brought so much love back into her life!  She is SO shy - and so humble.  And it all started with English class.  Sr.  Ballew

We studied the Heber J. Grant chapter on Being a Good Example in RS and Priesthood and D got up and testified of the power of example and that he is here today because of the good examples of all the members that he works with. ??

I was walking to the metro with others who had attended conference, when a young Hispanic lady in our group started talking about how she found the church. The beginning of her story startled me.  She pointed right at me and said A He talked to me on the metro.  We spoke in French remember?  And you took my number.  At first I just wanted to learn English but something changed.  I felt different when I was with the missionaries.  I love them so much.  I feel so good about me when they are there.@  I didn=t recognize her face, I barely recall our conversation, I talked to dozens of people that day.  I went back in my dollarstore address book to look, and sure enough, there it was.  She is supposed to be baptized in a couple of weeks.  It feels so good that at least one person on the metro that day has seen the light of the gospel, and because of the light I shared, she remembers me. ??

All and all we decided that if we want baptisms we just need to invite more people. So we made it a point and invited 5 people to baptism.  E. Lindberg

I think the highlight of this week was Tuesday, when we just contacted like crazy.  I think we had 61 total message invites.  It felt really good to just get out and talk with some Chinese people.  Elder Argyle

As we waited at the empty metro platform a Chinese man came up to us from behind and asked us if we could teach him about the Bible.  We did, and he was baptized.  Elder Wiegel

From New Members

Jean N.Rutagengwa.

(After baptism) I felt a peace inside and a serenity that I cannot express on this paper.  It=s then that I understood that the Lord is giving me a second chance, taking upon him my sins.  I=m proud of the choice I made.  (new member)
